The unstoppable Fast and Furious series reaches its sixth instalment this year, which sees the likes of Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and Dwayne the Rock Johnson once again reprise their overtly macho roles in a film that promises to be once again full of testosterone, bulging biceps and gruff voice acting. I still have visions of Vin Diesel eating gravel on set before takes.

Oh, and there’s likely to be a few cars present, too. After all, we all know the only thing that matters in a Fast and Furious film is the cast of cars making loud noises to compensate for everyone's lack of acting ability.

The Fast and the Furious series is therefore the ultimate guilty pleasure for petrolheads, and the sole reason why you and I have queued up in the cinema to see it five successive times for the last decade. And now the series that popularised cinematic street racing, tacky tuned imports and cars with approximately 66 gear shifts is back, and while Fast and Furious 6 probably won’t be an Oscar-crowning cinematic achievement, it should more than satisfy our cravings for races, chases and carnage.

We’ve therefore naturally been pondering exactly which cars will be prominently featured. Thankfully, we’re finally starting to uncover some of the star cars of Fast and Furious 6.

bensopra-nissan-gt-r-from-fast-and-the-furious-6First up is this heavily modified variant of the Nissan GT-R, sporting a bodykit designed by BenSpora and a tuned setup by SP Engineering. And what exactly are the fruits of these modifications, you ask? Well, how about a 3.8 twin-turbo V6 delivering 685 horsepower?

If you ask me, it’s certainly a striking-looking machine that’s earth-shatteringly powerful, but one that’s a tad vulgar and ostentatious. Very fitting for a Fast and Furious film, then.

Indeed, the Skyline has been a prominent fixture in the Fast and Furious franchise, last seen in the exhilarating night time race in Fast and Furious and also had a starring role in 2Fast2Furious. With this in mind, we’re expecting to see it become the star car of one of the titular characters.

Meanwhile, it looks as if Diesel will once again be tearing round in a macho muscle car. As is tradition, the car in question will be a Dodge Charger, albiet a rather special one: a modified Dodge Charger Daytona. Judging by the fate of Diesel’s previous wheels, however, we’re not expecting to see it survive the film intact, so don’t be surprised if you see it performing areal pirouettes before kissing the concrete.

DaytonaExpect to see both cars getting a significant workout in the final film, but it’s likely we’ll get a glimpse of their roles in the belated trailer, which is expected to air during something called the Super Bowl this Sunday. Stay tuned.

In other news, we’ve also received the official synopsis for Fast and Furious 6 confirming that it will indeed follow-on from Fast Five, which reads as follows:

Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.

Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.

Sounds like the perfect premise for smashing up cars to us. We’ll be getting a front seat of the action when Fast and Furious 6 will be races into cinemas May 24th.
